When I first started on the website one of the things I noticed that if someone new like me posted something, and it sat there for awhile with no response Bob would pop up and respond, even to something he might not have been interested in, just to offer a wellcome.

So sorry for your loss. Our prayers are with you and your family

Like many others signing this book, I only knew Bob through his writing and his online presence, but it’s clear that he was highly respected for his knowledge as well as the way he treated others. It says a lot when people who never met you in person think so highly of you, but that is certainly one of the legacies that Bob leaves behind. His words will resonate forever.

I will sure miss Bob’s comments on baseball (in general) and his remarks on 19th century players, which seemed to be a special interest of his. Please know that the family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

For those of us who only knew him online, Bob set an example with his scholarship, his humor and his decency. His memory will live on. Deepest sympathies to the family, his love for which shone from every word he wrote. –steve161

I never met Bob face-to-face; but I’ll miss him as much as many I knew well for years. He “played the game the right way.”

Bob wrote often of his love for his his family – Mindy, Caitlin, his father and siblings. Peace be with you all. He will be missed.

I knew you to be a true gentleman. We will miss you.

Bob was always a gentleman even when we disagreed. I will miss him. God bless.
