Honorable Mention
Bobby Grich- I probably will have him lower than most of you guys, but is seems to me that way too many of the second basemen of his era are considered underrated. Is that because they were, or that the formulas were slow to adjust to the changing offensive dynamics at the position? Whitaker was considered a star of sorts for a little while, and Grich was certainly respected, but neither one of them were considered Hall of Fame type players when they were active, at least not BBWAA Hall of Famers. I see both of them as VC types, Whitaker early and Grich a little later. I’d put Willie Randolph ahead of both of them, but a big part of that is the Phil Rizzuto effect (played for champions) so I ain’t married to the idea.
